9800GT Green Edition

PEAKHARDWARE International Co., Ltd. (PEAK), one of Taiwan’s leading suppliers of flash memory, VGA cards and related computer peripherals, today launches its new “green edition” graphics card: the 9800GT in 512MB and 1GB versions, to satisfy the dual requirements of lower power consumption and more environment-friendly components by computers in heavy use over long periods of operation.

The new models use the advanced 9800GT GPU and deliver all the performance of their predecessors. When two PEAK 9800GT graphics cards are fitted in tandem in order to boost video performance, no hardware link is required, as they use software SLI to share the graphics processing. There is no extra power connector required on the cards; this avoids the problems found with PCs without a spare power connector and lower power supply capacity. The improvements also make the installation of the 9800GT green edition easier.

"We at PEAK have been continuously working for green products," said Albert Tung, PEAK’s Product Manager. "The development of green products is important not only for environment-friendly and power-saving reasons, but also for cost-saving during this period of recession. We found that many computers are kept operating all day long in offices, schools and internet cafes. If we can save 20% of the power consumption of those computers, the power saved will be a huge amount."
